Discussion over the readings
The expectations that I had for the readings were that we were going to read those boring non sense stories that they made your read in high school. The assigned readings deviated from my expectations and were actually really entertaining, I was shocked that I learned a few new things and was entertained from them. I tended to engage my reading like if it was some type of chore and was not really up for reading assigned text from teachers, but now I realized that some texts can be enjoyable and not feel like you have to read. Now I approach the readings with an intent to learn something new or be entertained. My interaction with the readings changed over the semester from reading them the day before to days in advance so that I can get a better feeling of what they had and to write better blog posts about them instead of just reading them once I went through them multiple times. The most impactful in a positive way was the first article “Listen up dudes… you are an adult”. It made me think for a long time what it truly means to be a grown up, that one truly changed my perspective. The Wal-Mart movie also changed my mind about Wal-Mart and have stopped shopping there. The interesting part about many of the reading was that the language used was sort of modern day slang and a few curse words which made them separate from the norm and made them more enjoyable. The readings all were enjoyable and hope to encounter more in the future now that I am now that the class is over.
